Proposed Protocol for Field Testing of Endurance Fitness of Young Labrador Retrievers

The number of dogs and, with it, dog sports are growing in popularity, and the training begins at an early age. Although fitness testing is imperative part purposeful sports, to our knowledge, no objective field tests available for measuring young dogs’ endurance fitness. aim this study describe a simple, easy-to-repeat, inexpensive way test intervention effects on Labrador Retrievers. Healthy client-owned 16-week-old Retrievers will be recruited divided into control groups. group have eight-week program followed by four-week detraining period, while live normal puppy life. All tested four times intervals: baseline, one month later, two months later end after ending program. Each sessions identical consist measurements heart rate (HR) blood lactate (BL): trotting 1000 m, sprinting 200 recovery 5–8 min sprint. training-induced changes evaluated HR (HRR), BL, running times.
